Convening Buildings
Alumni Memorial Hall, Randolph Hall – 66 George Street
Alumni Memorial Hall, the main meeting area found on the second floor of Randolph Hall, will be our venue for “Old Friends – New Friends,” the Mroz Inaugural Convening opening drop-in reception. Built 1828-30, Randolph Hall is the signature building of the College of Charleston campus. A National Historic Landmark, the building is one of three historic structures in Cistern Yard, and it appears in the university’s main logo.
Sylvia Vlosky Yaschik Jewish Studies Center – 96 Wentworth St.
Located in the heart of the historic campus, the Sylvia Vlosky Yaschik Jewish Studies Center will be a central location for the Mroz Inaugural Convening. Breakfasts and lunches will be in Arnold Hall, located on the first floor, and the breakout sessions will take place in the classrooms on the second and third floor. Erected in 2002, the Jewish Studies Center is home to the Jewish Studies Program at the College of Charleston.
Rita Liddy Hollings Science Center – 58 Coming Street
The 207 seat auditorium in The Rita Hollings Science Center (RITA) will house most of the roundtables, keynote speakers, and other lectures at the Convening. The original building, constructed in 1974, with a second phase added on in 1987, is named for Rita Liddy Holling. RITA reopened in June 2018 after undergoing a major renovation to modernize its instructional and research capabilities.
